New York-based artist Angela Dufresne (b. 1969) makes a scene with her large-scale paintings and videos in this exhibition of works spanning nearly a decade. Focusing on her signature depictions of modern life, Dufresne compositionally connects us to the history of painting and cinema. Dufresne’s paintings and videos are expressions of “the stuff of the world, in dialogue with media, cultural production, and history as performance.”

Angela Dufresne: Making a Scene is organized by Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, Missouri, and curated by Erin Dziedzic, director of curatorial affairs, on view September 20, 2018 through January 6, 2019. This exhibition is being presented as a part of The Expanded Field for Open Spaces: A Kansas City Art Experience, taking place August 25 through October 28, 2018.
