August 23rd and 24th

Images and handwritten words are beautiful together.  In this two-day workshop, Helena Clare Pittman will take participants through the steps of drawing and watercolor painting to a short, contemplative piece of writing that works with our painted images. Students will come away with three, small complete pieces, suitable for framing or for making cards.

Helena Clare Pittman is the Author/Illustrator of 18 books for children, including a novel for adults and young adults.  She has developed a technique she calls, Illustrative Watercolor. This technique is a painterly and forgiving way of working with watercolors. Helena studied Painting and Education at Pratt Institute, for her BFA, and Writing, Art and Education for her MA at the MacGregor School of Antioch.  She also studied Children’s Illustration at The Parsons School of Design, and privately, with Caldicott Award-winning author, Ed Young.
