Bill will demo with oils.  The demo is free and open to the public.   Refreshments will be served.   He will conduct a workshop on February 25 from 9:30 am to 2 pm at the same location. Workshop fee $35 for members, $45 for guests.

Bill has a BFA from University of Connecticut and an MFA from Bowling Green State University.  He teaches classes at the West Hartford Art League and has done many demos and workshops in the area.  His paintings are currently represented at Gallery Antonia, Chatham, MA, JSO Art Associates, Westport, CT, and Hartford Fine Art and Framing, East Hartford.   He has won numerous awards in art exhibits in the area, including 1st place at the CT+6 in West Hartford in 2010, an award at the CT Plein Air Painters Annual Show in 2009, and has been juried into the New Britain Museum of American Art Members Show for the past 7 years.

His Artist Statement:  “I make a lot of drawings.  I pin these drawings on the walls of my studio – tape them on the windows even- I’m running out of space. These drawings are not schematics meant to solve all the puzzles I will confront in my next painting or large scale charcoal drawing, but rather mental and visual notes to refer to.  My studio is like a room full of post-it notes that say “Remember this!”, “Try that!” “Mash these ideas together!”  There are drawings on the walls that have been there for years.  To be there that long, there has to be some quality about them that keeps saying “There’s something here you’re not done with yet, something you need to take another pass at.”  That tells me to do a couple more drawings to figure it out”.
