Norton Museum of Art presents American Masters. On view will be three canvases by Joan Mitchell and Clyfford Still, representing the late twentieth century American painting. This exhibit offers images from the Abstract Expressionism movement that typify the movement in color and composition.

Mitchell developed the technique of using paint directly from the tube and applying it by hand. She worked her composition from the center of a canvas instead of connecting the entire surface as a whole. The paint was eventually spread over the entire surface to complete her expressive design.
