CALL FOR ARTISTS SPECIAL EXHIBIT – THE FUNK MACHINE
Jackson Junge Gallery is immediately seeking artists’ submissions for their upcoming exhibition THE FUNK MACHINE, opening on Friday, March 6, 2020 and running through Sunday, May 3, 2020.
Artists are encouraged to submit artwork that is revolving around the theme of Steampunk. Submissions for the exhibition are free.
Victorian fashion industrialized with grit and mechanical aspects, THE FUNK MACHINE takes viewers into the world of steampunk. Post-apocalyptic at its finest, this exhibition is a throwback to steam powered machinery, British Victorian era and the American wild west.
Artists in all media are encouraged to submit work that pays homage to this once sub-culture that has flourished into its own pop-culture ideology. Literature, film, music, architecture, fashion and fine art have all been influenced by steampunk since the 70’s. Adopting the past in order to create a new dystopian future, steampunk romanticizes the grit of history while re-imagining these times with sleek sci-fi elements.
All submitted work MUST conceptualize the theme above. Priority and preference will be given to new works of art. Artworks must be original, professionally presented and ready for installation.

No more than 8 pieces may be submitted.
The deadline for submissions is Sunday, February 9, 2020. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
The jury selection begins Thursday, January 30, 2020. Artist notifications will be sent out by Monday, February 3, 2020. If selected, artwork must be received no later than Sunday, March 1, 2020.
