Zygote Press is an artist workshop and gallery promoting contemporary fine-art printing. Through advocacy, exhibitions, community programs, and affordable, professional workspace, Zygote stimulates collective exchange. Here, artists create new work, audiences explore new ideas, and collaborations strengthen our community.
Zygote is currently accepting applications for two Curatorial / group Exhibitions for 2021, one in winter and one in spring. Qualified curators or artists should be established professionals in the U.S. or abroad.
Criteria: The show must contain an element of print in it.
Exhibitions: Winter (Jan. – Feb. 2021) / Spring (May 2021)
Artist Talk: in the gallery at the opening reception
Curatorial Proposal: $300 stipend (*for the show to qualify as curated, the curator cannot display their own artwork in the exhibition and the curator must coordinate the installation and logistics of the exhibition with the Gallery Director and participating artists)
Artist (Group) Proposal: no stipend / works can be included in the show / the artist must coordinate the installation and logistics of the exhibition with the Gallery Director.
We expect a hands-on approach and clear, direct communication with Zygote’s Gallery Director. The Curator/Artist is expected to be in Cleveland for and participate in the installation and opening of the exhibition. The Curator/Artist is expected to be at the gallery throughout the installation and provide all exhibiting artists’ contact info to Gallery Director. The Curator/Artist should clarify to all artists participating that they are responsible for delivering their work to the gallery, installing and de-installing their work. Zygote provides curators with a small stipend if they are not participating in the show as an artist.
