PATH invites eligible artists to apply for consideration to create temporary works of art using chalk on the sidewalks of City Park in Platteville, Wisconsin as part of Chalk & Cheese Fest, June 20, 2020.
FESTIVAL DESCRIPTION: The second Chalk & Cheese Fest will include a chalk festival open to artists of all ages and abilities, local food – cheese (and more), and music. Artists will create colorful artwork on the sidewalks and streets in and around City Park. Visitors will be able to watch the art as it unfolds. All will have the opportunity to try regional cheeses and listen to live music. The event will feature 3-5 commissioned, professional chalk artists creating larger works.
LOCATION: City Park, Platteville, Wisconsin. City Park is location one block off Main Street in downtown Platteville. The one-square block park is crisscrossed with 8 sidewalks. Professional artists will work in the center circle where all sidewalks cross (drawing below) or on Bonson Street between the park and City Hall.
FESTIVAL DAY: Artists are to be on-site 8 am-5 pm on Saturday, June 20. Chalk & Cheese Fest is open to the public 8 am-7 pm. Artist check-in and workspace preparation opens at 7:30 am, Saturday, June 20th.
ELIGIBILITY: Chalk & Cheese is open to all artists.
DEADLINE TO APPLY: All applications must be received by March 15, 2020. Artists will be notified via email by March 31, 2020.
