The Northern Illinois University Art Museum is seeking visual art interpretations on the theme of “portraiture”, from realistic likenesses (including an artist’s self-portrait) to more conceptual interpretations and portrayals of an individual or group. Entries will be evaluated on professionalism of execution, inventiveness of concept and capture of subject’s uniqueness.
Deadline for all entries: Materials must be postmarked by Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Online submissions may be loaded until 11:59 p.m. on June 12.
Works will be selected by invitation and from a national call for entry by NIU Art Museum staff members and the museum’s Exhibition Advisory Committee.
Entry Fee: $35.
Eligibility: The NIU Art Museum is currently accepting submissions in all media. This call is open to all artists in the United States 18 years of age or older. Two people must be able to handle and install the submitted artwork which must also fit through a single door (36” wide x 84” tall).
The exhibition will take place from August 27 to October 19, 2024.
