The Salt Museum (Director Il-sun Sohn) is located at the Taepyung Salt Farm, the largest salt farm in South Korea. The museum renovated the salt storage, now registered as a national cultural heritage (Registered No. 361), to create a space for the exhibition of modern art. We recently invited Molly A. Gordon, a Swiss artist, who will open a solo exhibition from November 12, 2019 to February 9, 2020.

Molly A. Gordon, from London, U.K., is a young artist who built a very unique artistic space that combines visual art and landscape architect. She is the winner of the 2019 Taepyung Art Project Open Call. She was chosen among 265 artists from 64 countries all over the world. For the last 6 weeks, as an artist-in-residence, she has been staying in beautiful Jeungdo and discovering the famous mudflats of Korea that are blessed with natural resources. The artist is presenting her artworks that include photography, video, installation, and outdoor sculpture.

Molly A. Gordon has been investigating how the traces of culture left by man have impacted nature such as the ebb and flow of the tide, day and night, sun and wind, sea and mountain. She has interpreted the cultivation time of salt and the moment of salt crystallization as the point that the sky, sea, man all meet.
