Larry Basky

Larry Basky

Presented by Plymouth Arts Center/Gallery 110 North

Basky is recognized nationally as one of the foremost printmakers of our time. Stephen Quiller, celebrated internationally known painter and printmaker had this to say about Larry, “Larry’s work has evolved to his mature signature style that is bold, powerful and direct, masculine and expressionistic and without the fear of taking risks. I feel that great art helps the viewer to see the world more deeply; to pause and think from a different vantage point or to think about something that we would normally just pass by; to imagine with a fresh vision. Larry Basky’s art takes you there.” Larry is a native Midwesterner having begun his career teaching art, coaching football and creating his own art in Kansas and Colorado. In 2002 Larry started a national fine art small print show attracting artists from all over the country. It is now in its 16th year in Creede, Colorado. Larry and his family returned to the Midwest, in 2003, settled in Plymouth, Wisconsin and opened Basky Gallery and Studio in an available downtown commercial building. Basky later closed his commercial gallery and continues to work from his home studio in Plymouth, employing new techniques and creating inspired works of art. Serigraphs, monotypes, woodcuts, oil paintings, mixed media, watercolor sketches and etchings are representative of the many forms he presents.
