Elizabeth Nelson

Presented by

Elizabeth Nelson: Pewter 30" x 40" acrylic The artist received her bachelor degree from RISDI, the Rhode Island School of Design, and an MA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Elizabeth lives in the Northern Kingdom of Vermont, on a farm in West Glover. For this painter the seasons of Winter and Spring come on with such dramatic force which she translates so masterfully onto panels and canvases. In the Lodge at Woodloch 2010 winter exhibit you will find winter scenes such as "Pewter" and “Snow Rising” which communicates the feel of melting or all-encompassing snowstorms. In others, such as “Spring River” we feel the sense of the ice thawing, swirling movement of rushing, pregnant water feeding the growth of lush, rich green that explodes after a winter of precipitation, with the promise of blue skies to follow. The artist employs the use of photography that she places within the canvas or panel and she works out from the scene, creating a mixed media wonder.
