Artist Statement: There is a rhythm in Nature, a vibration which, despite the noise and disruption of our daily lives, continues to pulsate with a quiet beat in our story. When we disconnect from this rhythm, the loss of its energy depletes the deepest part of us. But then, if we quiet, we can sense it in our longing for something we can’t quite identify. We feel its presence in the passing of a storm, the roar of a spring stream, the call of a loon, the view from the top of a mountain. And, if we listen carefully for her poetry and her song, perhaps we can remember Nature’s heartbeat and hear her message. We depict her in art in order to remember.
The images presented at Tannery Pond were all captured in the Adirondacks and focus on winter, spring, and the transition between the two when Earth, after a season of hibernation, comes alive again.
