Exploring Identity
SITE: SCHOOL INVITATIONAL THEME EXHIBITION
Established in 1994, SITE has been a cornerstone outreach initiative of Garrison Art Center. This year’s theme, Exploring Identity, invites students from 17 local elementary, middle, and high schools to express how they see themselves, their culture, and their unique experiences through art.
Identity encompasses the qualities, behaviors, and traits that define us—shaped by factors such as ethnicity, race, religion, language, culture, and personal choices. This exhibition celebrates the diverse ways identity influences our lives and connects us to the world around us.
HIGH SCHOOL MENTOR PROGRAM EXHIBITION
Since 1988, the Mentor Program has offered dedicated high school students a unique opportunity to collaborate with professional artists, fostering growth in their chosen medium. By pairing students with mentors, the program helps them refine their skills, explore creative boundaries, and gain invaluable insights from professional experience.
This year, 12 students are working with mentors across disciplines such as pottery and painting. The program culminates in a group exhibition, celebrating the students’ artistic achievements.
EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHTS: All exhibition-related events are free and open to the public.
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 15, 2025, 1 – 3 pm
