KINDRED is an exploration of family and the varied ways that we define it. Submitted works of art might deal with the complicated networks of dependence and support, identity and history, shared experience and unconditional love embedded in those relationships. This exhibition will explore how family experiences have influenced our lives and how we, at the same time, resist, reject or embrace it to build anew.

Printmaking is a uniquely collaborative way to make art. As a community, we rely on our members for kinship that is built on the foundations of shared passion and knowledge. We invite members to think about what family means to them and how it has influenced and changed their work. The exhibition will run from January 17 to March 15, with a reception to be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 2pm -5pm. Artwork, either delivered in person or by mail, must arrive at CCP no later than January 5, 2015.

Brenda Giegerich, CCP’s 2014 Best in Show Award Recipient will be presenting, New Mexico Reflections in the lithography room in connection with KINDRED. “These are recent prints referencing my memories and the lingering impressions from when I lived in New Mexico. What deeply impresses me is the juxtaposition of different textures, the mountain backdrop and the large uninhabited spaces. The stillness and quiet of the landscape allows one a glimpse into the past and the ever evolving nature of the land and our very small part in it.” —Brenda Giegerich
