The Silver Circle Gallery in Putnam, CT is proud to announce “Figure on Tuesdays,” a figurative exhibition to be held January 11 – February 26 ,2012. The show consists of paintings and drawings from a group of four local artists who meet regularly on Tuesday evenings at the Silver Circle Gallery’s art studio to work from a variety of models. Sean Farrell, Bud Cook, Shaun Rock, and Karen Reid each have a very distinct style and perspective. This display will provide a unique experience for the viewer to see how the individual artist explores the figure and its form. The exhibit showcases the works of Sean Farrell, an internationally recognized and highly collected artist. He is known for his vivid and luminous oil paintings. With collectors of his paintings throughout the country and in parts of Europe, the artist is represented by five galleries in the United States. NY ARTS Magazine has referred to his work as; “Exquisitely painted …Eye-catching with his use of dramatically bold colors mixed with delicate detail in a very modern old-master style.” Bud Cook is a painter and illustrator living in Northeast Connecticut. Bud has a BFA in painting/printmaking from Rhode Island College. Bud’s fine art endeavors consist primarily of drawing and painting the figure. “The process of how a piece evolves is important to me. The way a previous layer helps to define what comes next, yet still shows through in the final piece. I enjoy seeing the visual remnants of those elements that helped the final piece come to be.” As an illustrator, some of Bud’s past clients include Wizards of the Coast, Dark Horse Comics and Image Comics. Shaun Rock is an artist, musician, and middle school art teacher locally. “My passion is to explore and develop new creative ideas. I want to extend to my students the joys, frustrations, and process that goes into the makeup of an artist.” Shaun shows regularly at Silver Circle Gallery where he occasionally instructs figurative workshops. Karen Reid is the Gallery Assistant and painting instructor for Silver Circle and has been an artist for over ten years. Karen finds that painting the figure is about “how it relates to the space around itself.” She paints intuitively by “tapping into an emotion or feeling that channels through the color, gesture and form that develops on my canvas. This is an entrance into a world of my own.” Karen is a graduate from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and has worked as an artist for various companies while exhibiting regionally. The opening reception, Friday, January 13th, 6:00-8:00pm., is a free event that will allow the public to view the artwork, meet the artists, and enjoy live music from exhibiting artist Shaun Rock. Silver Circle Gallery is located at 75 Main Street (Suite 3) in Downtown Putnam. Since 2008, Silver Circle has been a fresh, contemporary space where visual artists collaborate to show and sell their work, educate others, and inspire one another and their community. Silver Circle is a haven for a diverse range of local and regional talent and an advocate for creativity in Northeastern Connecticut. Visit for more information.
