“A Journey Through Painted Landscapes”

Studio Montclair (SMI) is honored to present “A Journey Through Painted Landscapes,” a survey of work by Montclair painter and illustrator Denis Orloff. The show will run from April 17 through June 20 at SMI’s Academy Square Gallery, 33 Plymouth Street, Montclair, NJ. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 17 from 6:00-8:00pm.

A respected painter of traditional portraits, pet portraits, house portraits, and landscapes, this exhibition reflects Orloff’s passion for natural light and its effects on the world around us. Says the artist, “I have always been drawn to light. Light is everything. We cannot live without it: from the early morning light to the fading golden hour, and finally the light of twilight which affects our emotions and how we feel about our environment. I believe that the depiction of light is one of the most difficult and most gratifying things I can accomplish in a painting.”

Denis Orloff graduated from Parsons School of Design in NYC followed by a highly successful career as an illustrator of children’s books and for television shows, magazine articles, and product advertisements. His illustration clients include American Girl, Arista Records, Forbes Magazine, Good Housekeeping, McGraw Hill Publications, NBC TV, New York Magazine, The New York Times, and many others. His work is in various collections throughout the country.
