LatchKey Gallery is pleased to present Never Mind the Bullocks, a group exhibition featuring artists, Inna Babaeva, Darryl Westly, Steven Fragale and Toby Barnes which examines contemporary art through a meta-modernist lens. Never Mind the Bullocks will be on view from September 18 – October 21, 2018 at the Chashama Space, One Brooklyn Bridge.

It should be fi¬rst stated that t¬his is not an attempt to define the cultural theory but to visualize the sentiment that may be meta-modernism. It is, however, a visual certainty that reflects our current society. Never Mind the Bullocks brings together four artists whose works individually offset a visual energy that embodies our sense of self in this time of chaos. Whether it is through the sarcasm found in the sculptures of Inna Babaeva, who juxtaposes materials that simultaneously evoke a sense of irony and delight or Darryl Westly’s construction of opposing images which when fused together create a new harmonious configuration.

Never Mind the Bullocks creates alternative modes that bridges the absurd with the coherent and questions what is real versus what is unreal. Nowhere is this more evident than in the work of Steven Fragale an AR painter. It is here between varying dimensions where one finds themselves fully enveloped by the artist’s vision. These fragmented shifts of being come together with the paintings by Toby Barnes, whose own oscillating identity leaves us in this contemporary purgatory inevitably leading us to our own ipseity.

Never Mind the Bullocks looks to name the chaos, conquer the confusion and empower the individual living within the noise of today by creating a visual understanding of our current state.
