Portrait Painting in Egg Tempera – OPEN FOR REGISTRATION Instructor: Jennifer Knaus Mondays, 6-9pm July 18-August 15, 2011 Copying an old master reproduction, students will learn the traditional process of painting a portrait in egg tempera. After finishing an india ink monochromatic under drawing, we will then paint the various stages used by medieval artists such as the Terra Verde layer, verdaccio, and then we will glaze on warm flesh tones to complete the portrait. A materials fee of 10$ for ink, pigments, and a traditional gesso panel will be collected at the first class. Prerequisite: introduction to egg tempera.
