Kick off the new school year by cultivating a deeply rooted culture of friendship and community. We invite you to join us in the AA&CC’s Asian Garden for live music, poetry readings, and a ceremonial raking of heiwa (へいわ)—the Japanese word for peace—in the gravel of our karesansui (枯山水) (dry landscape garden). Together, we collectively envision and nurture harmony among us. Held each September in recognition of the International Day of Peace, this special tradition connects our campus with 27 other Asian gardens nationwide through the North America Japanese Garden Association’s (NAJGA) Gardens for Peace project to advocate for unity.
