A Painting from the Source workshop is being offered by creator of the process, Aviva Gold. Hosted by Niantic Community Church for the second year in a row, the west coast author and artist, introduces painting for those who have never picked up a brush, but want to explore the connection between creativity and spirituality. Participants work with tempera paint on large paper that often “grows” as the painting evolves. Painting in an atmosphere of silence, participants connect with the original creator. Aviva came to NCC last September for the first time and was enamored by the enthusiasm of the PFTS group that meets at the church monthly. Celebrating its one year anniversary, paintings created with the Painting from the Source process were showcased. “This has become one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life so far,” said monthly participant Phyllis Lee. “When I place my hands on the paper, before painting, I feel I am making a connection between what was, what is, and what is to come. There is no judgment or criticism, only a wonderful release of color and shapes unique to me.” The workshop with Aviva is a rare opportunity to spend an evening exploring the process and painting while being guided, in a small group setting. The workshop is being held Thursday, September 15, 6:00-9:30 pm. Participants must be familiar with the PFTS process and register in advance. A donation of $45 plus $10 for materials is requested although some scholarships are available. Books are also available through the church as well. Niantic Community Church is located at 170 Pennsylvania Ave., Niantic. Call (860) 739-6208 for more information or to register.
