Tuesday, February 7, 6:30 pm NEW YORK FOUNDATION FOR THE ARTS (NYFA), 20 Jay Street, 7th Floor. DUMBO, Brooklyn Presented by Storm King Art Center Tom Eccles, executive director of the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College; Mark Handforth, artist; and Irving Sandler, art critic and historian, discuss the art and career of preeminent sculptor Mark di Suvero. The three men, each of whom has worked closely with the artist, will consider di Suvero’s work in the context of his career and the history of modern sculpture. Storm King Art Center, the event’s host, has had a long and celebrated history with di Suvero—his large-scale work is an integral element of Storm King’s 500-acre landscape in Mountainville, NY. In 2011, Storm King presented a major exhibition of di Suvero’s work on Governors Island and worked with the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy to install the artist’s soaring Yoga on the Park’s Pier 1.
