Closing of “Sandy and Its Aftermath”
Hoxie Gallery in the Westerly Library
Dec. 29, 2012, 12:00 am
Sandy and its Aftermath is open to artists and the community, presenting
a platform to simultaneously and holistically showcase the hurricane’s
effect on the area. The exhibition is conceived and organized by Dora
Szekely in conjunction with Hera Gallery and will be juried by Dave Gilly
Gilstein, co-owner and Director of The Charlestown Gallery and Szekely,
Director of Hera Gallery.
The exhibition is seeking submissions of art based on or inspired by
hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. Work can be representational or
abstract, express the hurricane’s effect internally, within one’s
community, observationally or speak broadly of a natural disaster’s effect
on society and the environment. The exhibition encourages submissions of
all media.
*The exhibition’s community section* will be open to anyone who wishes to
submit stories, photographs, videos, poetry or pieces based on Sandy and
its aftermath.
