The National: Best Contemporary Photography 2014
Fort Wayne Museum of Art
Entry Deadline: Nov. 30
The debut of The National coincides with the launching of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s new collecting initiative focusing on contemporary photography, and the Museum’s goal is to develop The National into one of the country’s preeminent exhibitions of photography.
The exhibition is a hybrid invitational and juried exhibition, anchored by photography standouts Julie Blackmon, Sharon Harper, Richard Renaldi, Martina Lopez, and Nick Veasey, as well as the work of dozens of talented photographers from across the country pushing the boundaries of the medium with adventurous techniques and original subject matter.
In terms of aesthetic quality, technical innovation, and cultural relevance, contemporary photography has increasingly proven its dominance as a 21st Century art form. This new biennial exhibition, similar in prestige and quality to FWMoA Contemporary Realism Biennial, will feature prominent invited artists and juried entrants with the intention of showcasing the finest work being created or exhibited in the nation.
All artists whose work is juried into this exhibition will be recognized at the FWMoA website, and in an extended exhibit guide and/or color catalogue. Additionally, juried artists are eligible to receive one of the following prizes:
First Prize: Museum purchase award and a solo exhibition in the coming year
Second Prize: Museum purchase award
