ONE X ONE: A Tribute to the Human Spirit, A Juried Exhibition
Athan’s European Bakery & Café
Entry Deadline: Oct. 11
MassWax is pleased to announce a call for entries for ONE X ONE: A Tribute to the Human Spirit, an exhibition celebrating the determination and endurance of the human spirit during the tragic events that surrounded the 2013 Boston Marathon.
Our venue, Athan’s European Bakery & Café, located at 1621 Beacon Street, is within the 23rd mile marker of the Boston Marathon route. Thousands of runners from around the world pass by Athan’s on their way to the finish line. Athan’s was recently featured in Boston Magazine as one of Boston’s top five coffee houses and art gallery hybrids!
THEME
Artists are encouraged to explore from the literal to conceptual interpretations of what constitutes the human spirit.
SUBMISSIONS
Artists are asked to submit 1’X1’ artwork panels, using encaustic as their primary medium. Individual panels chosen by the juror will be incorporated into a larger, collective installation, translating into visual language the message that it takes each and every one of us to stand strong and together when faced with adversity. Additional panels will be chosen by the juror to hang as individual pieces in the exhibition.
