Washington Gallery in Duluth, MN is looking for funny, silly, sappy, quirky, corny, odd, goofy, and peculiar musings on love and romance in the form of visual, written, or fine art for a show opening February 14th entitled “My Funny Valentine.” Deadline is February 7th, 2014.

The theme for the art show is inspired by a popular jazz standard written by Rodgers & Hart in 1937 for the musical Babes in Arms: ‘My funny valentine/ My sweet comic valentine/ You make me smile with my heart/ Your looks are laughable/ Unphotographable/ Yet you’re my favorite work of art . . . ‘

Submission Requirements:
1. Artist’s statement
2. Brief bio (2-3 sentences)
3. One to six pieces (PDF, JPG, MOV, or AVI format)
4. Description of pice (Title, medium, dimensions, price)
5. SUBJECT LINE: MY FUNNY VALENTINE

Guidelines:
All mediums accepted (if video you must provide your own materials and machinery). Pieces MUST BE READY TO HANG. In many cases, that means HANGING WIRE. Pedestals are available for sculpture or other smaller 3D objects.

Submissions must be received via email by February 7th. Artwork will be selected by members of the Washington Gallery Committee and selected artists will schedule appointments will the Gallery Committee for drop-off by no later than February 11th. Absolutely no physical artwork will be accepted after February 11th. If you are outside of the Duluth area, please plan accordingly to make sure your art can be brought to the Washington Gallery within the given time frame. Artists located outside of Duluth, MN are responsible for return package & postage. All artists are responsible for insuring their own artworks against loss or damage. Artists are responsible for sales themselves through personal contact info – the Washington Gallery doesn’t handle sales. That means you get to keep 100% of your sale!
