APG is seeking photographic projects that provide new insight and a better understanding of the American South today. The show, Know South/No South, will explore or challenge the idea of Southern identity in the 21st century. This themed exhibition that will be juried by Richard McCabe, photography curator at the Ogden Museum in New Orleans. McCabe will be selecting works from 6-8 artists for the exhibition. One artist will be selected for a purchase award of $2,500 and selected works will enter the High Museum permanent collection.
Richard McCabe is the Curator of Photography at the Ogden Museum in New Orleans. He has curated over 25 exhibitions in the past seven years including – Eudora Welty: Photographs from the 1930s and 40s, The Mythology of Florida, Mark Steinmetz: South, Self-Processing: Instant Photography, The Rising, and Seeing Beyond the Ordinary. In the fall of 2017, Aint – Bad published LAND STAR a monograph of Richard McCabe’s photography.
This show is limited to residents of the Southern US or work made in the Southern US: Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma.
