Group Exhibit – Eros: Expressions of Desire

A/NT Gallery, a non-profit, all-volunteer gallery serving Downtown Seattle for 25 years, is holding an open call to all artists for their February exhibit, Eros: Expressions of Desire.
The theme of this exhibit will be “Eros,” the Greek word for “Desire.” This theme will focus on adult relationships, including those of an erotic nature, but the works do not have to be sexual. Prizes will be issued for the best work ($100 for First Place, $60 for Second, $40 for Third).

Name of Venue or Event: ” Eros: Expressions of Desire” at A/NT Gallery (“A Non-Traditional Gallery,” formerly “Art/Not Terminal Gallery”). The theme of this exhibit will be “Eros,” the Greek word for “Desire.” This theme will focus on adult relationships, including those of an erotic nature, but the works do not have to be sexual. Prizes will be issued for the best work ($100 for First Place, $60 for Second, $40 for Third).
Work Media: All media accepted.
Work Size: All sizes accepted, as long as the work would fit reasonably within the gallery. (A/NT Gallery is a large space.)
Entry Requirements:
Bring all works to A/NT Gallery during the drop off time (January 26th or 27th, 2014, between 11AM and 8PM). All works will be charged a $15.00 hanging fee. Oversized work (over 4′ wide) will be charged $5.00 per linear foot, or portion thereof, exceeding the 4′ limit. The fee will be collected at the time of delivery.
Timeline of Exhibit: January 29 – February 23, 2014
Entries Due: January 26 and 27, 2014
Judging: Our judges for the prize money are TBD. They will judge based on the quality of the work, including technical execution and composition, and how well the work represents the theme of “Eros.”
Selection Process: All works accepted as long as they fit the theme of “Eros” and our hanging requirements (see “Delivery”). Works may be turned away at the discretion of the gallery if they do not meet our requirements. Please email [email protected] if there are questions about whether or not your specific work would be accepted.
Delivery: All artwork will be delivered to A/NT Gallery on January 26-27, 2014, between 11AM and 8PM. If the artist is unable to deliver on those dates, they will need to make arrangements with the gallery to arrange delivery.
2D framed media must have hanging wire. A/NT Gallery will provide pedestals for 3D artwork, if required. We are unable to provide shielded cases, projectors, televisions, stereos, or other devices for multimedia artwork. The gallery is also unable to setup and tear down installation works. If such works are accepted, we will inform the artist what additional requirements will be needed to setup their work in the gallery.
If an artist needs to ship the artwork to the gallery, all shipping costs and packaging will be the artist’s responsibility. We require that shipped art is framed with plexiglass, if glass is needed. The artist will also be responsible for return shipping costs. Though the gallery will take great care in handling all artwork, the gallery will not be responsible for damage done to the artwork during shipping, packing, and unpacking.
Reception: The opening reception will be at the gallery on February 1, 2014, between 6PM and 10PM.
Exhibit or Event Ends: February 23, 2014
Pickup Artwork by: Artwork must be picked up February 23, 2014. If this is not possible, please make arrangements with the gallery to pick it up at a different time or ship the art.
Publicity: Local media will be notified of this event through press releases, newspaper ads, social media, and posters in local businesses. Participating artists will also be encouraged to invite friends and followers. The gallery will be providing wine, refreshments, and entertainment for this event.
Reproductions of the art will be used in publicity only with the permission of the artists.
Sales: The artist will set their own prices when delivering the work. All work that is “Not For Sale” must be marked as such by the artist. The gallery will take a 15% commission on all work sold. The gallery will also collect sales tax (9.5%) in addition to the sale price.
Insurance: A/NT Gallery is unable to provide insurance for the work in the exhibit. Artists can choose to insure their work. The gallery is fitted with a security system and a gallery sitter is present during all business hours.
