Gartel International Digital Media Art Competition In Albany During Inspiration Week.

Laurence Gartel, father of Digital Media Art and the NY Capital Film Community are teaming up for a benefit digital art competition to take place during Inspiration Week August 12-18, 2013 in Albany, NY.

A call for entries for the competition is now in place and selected entries will be exhibited at the Broadway Art Center in The Arcade Building, 488 Broadway, Albany, NY between July 15 and August 23rd. The winning entries selected by a panel of judges that include Laurence Gartel and author Don Rittner will take place on August 17th and winning entries will be notified.

This year’s entries are allowed to sell their artwork with 50% of the proceeds going to the artist and 50% going to the non-profit organization The Onrust Project (www.theonrust.com) and the Broadway Art Center.

The competition is open worldwide and those interested in entering should send digital copies to Don Rittner at [email protected] along with their entry fee of $25 per piece to PO Box 1710, Schenectady, NY 12309.

All entries will be exhibited via electronic viewing but only 90 will be selected to be hung. Cash prizes will be awarded along with a Viewer’s Choice Award selected by a vote of those who view the works in the gallery.

The exhibition and competition is in honor of Laurence Gartel, father of digital media art who will be giving a lecture after a dinner in his honor on Friday, August 16th in Albany.

Entry fees are $25 per image; $10 if a student.
