Encaustic USA
ARC Gallery
Entry Deadline: Apr. 25
ARC Gallery announces an open call to artists for its summer exhibit, ENCAUSTIC USA. This is an open-theme exhibition presenting current uses of encaustic in painting, drawing and sculpture from across the country.
Encaustic is an adaptable and inspiring medium that has been embraced by growing numbers of artists in the past decade. Encaustic USA will showcase a variety of styles, content and techniques of art work in which wax (applied in a molten state) is the chief medium. The gallery’s interest above all is to exhibit good art – art that clearly shows each artist’s personal vision supported by skillful execution.
Exhibit dates: June 26-July 20. E-mail notification by May 12.
Jurors: Paul Klein (editor of the Art Letter, leader of Klein Artist Works webinar series) and Shelley Gilchrist, founder of FUSEDChicago, a professional organization for artists who use encaustic.
Send your A game to Chicago this summer! ARC Gallery is a street level space located near the lively Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood in Chicago. Its 200 running feet of wall space will be devoted to this exhibit.
Fee varies according to number of images submitted. Maximum horizontal limit for wall work is 48″.
