Ours is a truly unique gallery – a massive Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, NY. Its enormous space affords us the opportunity to exhibit really huge work that stands out! Our curators will be using 8,000 square feet for this show, and look forward to exhibiting artist’s work from all around the country, work in all sizes, and subjects, and media.

Black & White has always been woven in the fabric of our nation since its inception. How we confront these trying times today, goes to the core of who we are as a people/artists. This is an exhibition designed to bring together artists, art collectors, art organizations and communities. The featured artwork will provide a glimpse of the diversity of creative style and visual presentation found at BWAC.

Our juror is Jenée-Daria Strand, Curatorial Assistant for the Center for Feminist Art, Brooklyn Museum. BWAC Show Curator is Kenneth Jackson.

ABOUT THE JUROR:
Jenée-Daria Strand is the Curatorial Assistant for the Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum where she supports in the research and organization of numerous exhibitions, including “Out of Place: A Feminist Look at the Collection” and the upcoming “Lorraine O’Grady: Both/And.” Jenée-Daria has led and supported projects examining Black subjectivity through historical precedents, including her first independent co-curation of “what once was” in August of 2019 (Gloria Gail Gallery, NYC), and the Alvin Ailey x “The Dinner Party” by Judy Chicago performance collaboration for Women’s History Month 2020 (Brooklyn Museum, NYC), featured in ELLE Magazine. She serves on the Dance/NYC Junior Committee, holds a BFA from Florida State University, and will begin an MA at New York University this Fall.

ELIGIBILITY: This call for submission is open to all residents of the U.S.A. 18 years of age or older. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D media, including film/video ONLY when part of an installation. Works may be submitted in one or multiple media. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. Limited edition prints are accepted. Artwork not meeting this criteria may, although juried, be rejected.

SUBMISSIONS AND FEES: Only original works may be submitted. Works may be submitted in one or multiple media.
$35 for up to three (3) images plus $5.00 for each additional image.
All entries must be registered/received by midnight PST, August 10, 2020. All entry fees are non-refundable.
