The New NEST Arts Factory has issued a call for entries to artists to submit pieces for an April Fools show. Beginning in ancient Rome with the festival of Hilaria, there are many precursors to our current April Fools Day; and there is no denying there IS something about the time of year, with its turn from winter to spring, that lends itself to lighthearted celebrations. So join in the fun and send us a jpg of your craziest, happiest, funniest art. Let’s fill the NEST with harbingers of spring! Curated by artist/educators Christine Goldbach and Mary Jo Lombardo, April Fools is open to artists in all media. The show will hang for the entire month of April in the gallery at the NEST, conveniently located just off exit 25 in Bridgeport, CT. The building has plenty of free parking in an adjoining lot. The opening reception is Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 3-6pm. April Fools will continue through April 28 with pick up on Saturday April 28 from 3-4pm. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 9-5, Saturdays, 12-4. Please email all entries to [email protected] Artists may submit up to 3 jpgs, 72dpi and at least 4″ x 5″, for consideration. Upon acceptance there will be a $10 per artist hanging fee. Deadline for receipt of entries is midnight on Thursday March 8th. Artists will be notified by Sunday, March 11th. Drop off for work is Friday, March 23rd, from 5-7pm and Saturday, March 24th, from 9-11am at The New NEST, 1720 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Media Specifications All media is welcome. Two-dimensional works must not exceed 60″ wide and MUST be WIRED FOR HANGING. All sculpture must be presented in a permanent, non fragile medium. If your sculpture requires a pedestal, you must provide one that is acceptable. There is no elevator and the gallery space is on the second floor. Artists with special installation requirements should be available to assist in the installation of their work. Liability and Insurance The NEST Arts Factory does not insure work, and will not be liable for work not claimed after specified pick-up date and times. All care will be taken while art is at the NEST Arts Factory, but the NEST Arts Factory is not responsible for any loss or damage to the artwork during delivery, installation and de-installation or for normal wear and tear, such as minor nicks to frames or scratches to Plexiglas. Sales All artwork should be for sale. There is a $10 entry fee. Up to 3 pieces may be selected. A commission on artwork sold is15%. Checks should be made payable to NEST Arts Factory. All artwork will be handled with all possible care.
