Brainstorm, the title of Paul’s fairy tale book of verse and surreal collage creations, is also a word that represents the creative imagination and multi-talents of an artist who has been working with collage since 1975. Named “upcoming illustrator” by Art Direction Magazine, his collages can be found on book jackets and record covers. By his early 20s Paul was on the faculty of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts Dance Department, where he received his BFA. After years of performing with the Paul Taylor Dance Company and heading up the dance department at Sweet Briar College, he went on to create his own company and his own choreography. Later he and his partner formed River Road Antiques in New York City and now live in a house they designed on the shores of the Delaware River in Milanville, Pa. Throughout those years Paul continued to make collages that reveal a sensibility of movement combined with a love of bygone eras as seen in the prints that form the base of his collage. His recent “Motley” series is a testament to his wit, his imagination and his love of nature.
