Christine Ghezzo

Christine Ghezzo

Presented by United Photographic Artists Gallery

Christine Ghezzo is a self-taught photographer who can usually be found wandering the streets of Queens (NYC) or St. Petersburg (FL). Being a first generation American, Christine grew up inside multiple cultural contexts and languages (Romanian, Hungarian, Greek & Italian). With photography, she explores the complex layers of life in urban environments, often focusing on the immigrant neighborhoods of her hometown, Queens. As a result, illusionary spaces, signage, intense colors, spirituality, sexuality and humor are infused into her work. Photography is her process of meditating on the full spectrum of human experience through the structures we create and the places we inhabit. Christine was born with mild cerebral palsy, and themes of mobility also appear in the form of bicycles, scooters, baby carriages and cars. Christine celebrates cultural diversity through her two life paths: photography and music. She is also a world music singer who performs internationally, and carries her camera wherever she goes. While photographing on the streets, she uses the lightest equipment possible: an i-phone and a mirrorless camera. Post-processing is kept to a minimum. She currently lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she continues exploring the streets, singing, meditating, dancing and tending to her organic garden.
