Arline Edmonds - Potter

Presented by Wesleyan Potters

Ten years ago, my daughter and I took a pottery class together as a mother’s day gift. I don’t think I showed much promise at first, but I became obsessed very quickly. I continued to attend classes at Greenleaf Pottery in CT for seven years and then at Wesleyan Potters for two years. I have also taken workshops at Stone Farm, MA, Canton Clay Works, CT and at Wesleyan Potters. I became a Key Member at Wesleyan Potters in 2011. Making pottery is a peaceful and creative experience. Forming a pot on the wheel requires my full concentration: if too many things are on my mind, it will inevitably collapse. I find it calming, yet challenging. For me, working with clay has been a wonderful gift. I continue to experiment with many styles and techniques, but mostly, I like to make pieces that are attractive and practical. When someone takes one of my pieces home, I enjoy knowing it will become part of their daily life.
