The Evanston Art Center launched an inaugural “artwork-in-residence” program in June 2016, curated by Jessica Cochran. The Evanston Art Center invited 6 artists, Adriana Kuri Alamillo, Judith Brotman, Joseph G. Cruz, David Khan-Giordano, Kirsten Leenaars and Pedro Vélez to “move in” to the second floor project space for 4 weeks. There, artists worked on projects-in-progress, experimented with the display of their artwork, hosted studio visits and engaged the community of the Evanston Art Center and the broader art community in the development of their work. The New People: Artists from the Society! Artwork-in-Residence Program will celebrate the work of Judith Brotman, Joseph G. Cruz, Kirsten Leenaars and Pedro Vélez created and envisioned during the course of their residency.
