Come and explore Peters Valley, one of the country’s premier craft schools! This is the absolute best day of the year to visit our campus. Our facilities are nestled amid the beauty of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, one mile from the Dingmans Ferry Bridge, in Layton, NJ. We open our entire facility for touring during this event. Demonstrators will be working in our blacksmithing/sculpture, ceramics, fibers, weaving, fine metals/jewelry, woodworking and special topics/glass and printmaking studios. The New Jersey Blacksmithing Association will be taking over our blacksmithing studio and the Water Gap Woodturners will be showing off their skills in our woodworking studio. Other artists will be demonstrating and displaying their work throughout campus. There will be hands-on activities for adults and kids…and you can screen print your own poster with artists from the Posters For The People project!

InteriorBannerWe can accommodate bus groups – call us today! Sorry, no pets will be allowed on campus during this event.

Visitors will have the opportunity to watch artists forge metal, weave cloth, turn wood, carve sculptures, create jewelry, etc! Parents can meet the instructors of our Youth Art Camps and sign their kids up for a session! We also invite you to tour our current gallery exhibition. In addition you can browse the gallery’s first floor which showcases the work of over 200 American artists. The Walpack Historical Society will display fascinating photos and literature about the history of the area.

As always there will be great food available throughout the day from Green Valley Farms. Live music by Carl Ferriere (11:30-12:30), Joseph Henry & The Oaks Band (1 – 2) and Non-Stop Denny (2:30-3:30).

Peters Valley School of Craft has also started a brand new community event – the Creative Rush 5K Run/Walk, to take place on campus the morning of their Annual Open House & Studio Tours Event (9:30am). $15/under 18yrs old, $25/18yrs and over (cost goes up by $5 per person May 1st through race day May 7th) Participants will get to experience the beauty of the rural campus in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The up-and-back course will be officially timed and take place on completely closed park roads running through their sprawling campus. Make it a double-header weekend and join the Race to the Top of NJ on Saturday before joining Peters Valley on Sunday! For more details on either race and to sign up, please visit www.racesignup.com
