Call for Artists – Call for Poets
5th Annual Poetry & Art Show
After four successful and moving exhibits, Wickford Art Association is thrilled to begin preparations for our next exhibit, the 5th Annual Poetry & Art Show, September 22 to October 15, 2017. This year’s show will be based upon the theme of “Connections”.

We are continuing the process of ekphrasis – writing inspired by art. An ekphrastic poem is a vivid description of a scene or, more commonly, a work of art. This exhibit will showcase 40 works of art and 40 original poems inspired by those works of art. A limited edition book cataloging the exhibit will be published. A Call to Artists for artwork submissions is open with entries due by May 10, 2017. Artists may submit up to three digital images for consideration by the jury. Forty pieces of art will be selected by the jury for this exhibit. Poets are invited to submit poems to be reviewed by a jury. Each chosen poet will create a poem in response to one of the selected pieces of artwork. Prospectus for both calls are available for download on our website www.wickfordart.org

Poets and artists will not meet until just prior to the opening reception on September 22, 2017, heightening the excitement for this annual exhibit at the Wickford Art Association. Poetry readings and related events will take place during and around the time of the exhibit.
