State University of New York, Oswego, seeks proposals for outdoor sculpture for the school’s main campus from Summer 2018 – Summer 2021. Six artists will be chosen to install artworks in a centrally located lawn area adjacent to SUNY Oswego’s Campus Center. Selected works will be on view for a three-year exhibition period. SUNY Oswego has a student body of 8,000 students on a 690 acre campus. It is situated on the shores of Lake Ontario adjacent to the City of Oswego, population, 18,000. All sculptural themes will be considered and selection criteria will include durability, creativity/originality and architectural, geographic and cultural contexts. Installation site is a highly trafficked pedestrian area of the SUNY Oswego main campus. Sculpture site is completely exposed to the elements including very harsh winter weather conditions that may include heavy snow and high winds.

Each sculpture will sited on an 8’ diameter concrete pad and all accepted sculpture must be designed to securely bolt to this pad. (please note installation pads have no access to electricity, independent lighting, water, etc.) Proposals can be for existing or new artwork. Each artist may submit up to three proposals however, only one proposal from any artist can be accepted. Each accepted artist will be awarded a one-time stipend of $2,000. This stipend is to cover all expenses including materials, transportation, installation, de-installation, and artist fee. Any artist over 18 years of age is welcome to apply. Applications are due March 19, 2018, 6PM EST. Late proposals will not be considered. Announcement of accepted artworks by April 16th, 2018.
