Artists Live is a visual arts program, which features award-winning Connecticut artists in month-long exhibitions starting the first Friday of each month from March through December except for August throughout 2017. It will take place at 23 Royce Circle in downtown Storrs, Connecticut. Each participating Artist, will be “live” the final Friday of their month of exhibition for an artist discussion with Kathleen Zimmerman at 5 pm followed by a reception at 6 pm, which is open and free to the public. Kathleen partnered with the Mansfield Downtown Partnership and were jointly awarded the State of Connecticut’s Office of the Arts Regional Arts Grant to create this program.
Frank Bruckmann and Gar Waterman will be the third and fourth of the series of ten artists. Their work will be on exhibit May 5th through the 26th concluding with an artist conversation on May 26th at 5 pm.Frank Bruckmann’s work communicates who he is by his choice of subject matter, rich colors and thoughtful compositions. He sees painting as the way that he interacts with the world; the language he finds best expresses what he wants to say. His work is not only technically skillful but often provokes conversation around how we choose to live. While Gar Waterman’s sculpture explores the organic and inorganic architecture of our surroundings. He works in stone, wood, bronze, and steel, producing carefully crafted, often whimsical and frequently beautiful objects that reflect his fascination with evolution’s exquisite sense of design.
